bumGenius feels like the quintessential cloth diaper and I’m not quite sure why. This brand is the masterwork of Jenn Labit, a determined young mother turned CEO who took the cloth diaper world by storm. bumGenius is just one of several brands under the Cotton Babies umbrella that also includes Flip, Elemental Joy and Econobabies.

The essential bumGenius family of products include a series of diapers, many of which have had revisions and improvements over the years. Specifically, the elastics. bumGenius cloth diapers were notorious for having crappy elastics in their 4.0 and prior diapers. But they did make changes and the chatter around crappy elastics is dying down.
For a while, many bumGenius prints were highly sought after, and some continue to be. There is a line up of never were diapers that did go for ridiculous prices at auction. These days the market has calmed down and it’s easy to stock up.
bumGenius is one of few brands available at major retailers. They did have an issue with Amazon for a while, but you can also find them at Babies R Us, and many other mainstream shops.

My Personal Experience with bumGenius Cloth Diapers?
Originally purchased a stash of old bumGenius pocket cloth diapers off the buy and sell and got burned. These diapers had trash elastics and delaminating PUL. The microfibre inserts weren’t even worth washing my floors with.
It took a while to build up the courage to try their products again, and I mistakenly did so with the Freetime which I found way too bulky. Then I discovered the Elementals and fell in love. I would have an entire stash of the new Elemental. I tried the 5.0 pocket and while stretchy tabs are life, I just don’t like microsuede.
