Overnight Cloth Diapers
Cloth diapering overnight can be scary – leaks, cranky babies, and the expense of it all. It’s okay if you don’t cloth diaper overnight. You are still a cloth diaper mom.
Cloth Diapering Overnight Basics
It can be hard to find an overnight cloth diaper solution, if you have a heavy wetter or even just a baby who sleeps funny. Capturing 8-10 hours of urine is a daunting task and might require some creativity, expense, and experimenting.
But, how do you know if you have a heavy wetter? You have to try – and remember that your baby may fluctuate each night.

Daytime Diaper with a Booster
Start by adding an additional booster or insert to your daytime diaper.
Choose a hemp, cotton, or bamboo booster or insert.
= extra 3-8oz
Start by trying an absorbent material in your home like receiving blankets or t-shirts.
This doesn’t have to be a long term solution but it can be a low-cost option to see how much absorbency you need.
= 10-18 oz
Embrace Fleece and/or Wool
This is as simple as using fleece pj’s for night. Fleece will help reduce some of the leaking and wet-bed sheets during this trial and error.
Wool is a more expensive option, but can help.

What About Pockets & All In One Diapers?
There is a lot of discrepancy in the term “heavy wetter.” For some brands that means 10 oz, and others 30+ oz. You can use a pocket diaper with any combination of inserts or flats or fitted diapers. You can use an AIO diaper overnight, but it will depend on your child’s output, the fit of the diaper, and overall absorbency.
