Welcome to Show 08 of the Cloth Diaper Podcast where we have a quick chat with Kylie from FluffBumLove. This is actually half of our conversation because I’m saving the other half for another week. Next time we’ll cover wool in its own.
I really wanted to give up after Show 07, but I’m figuring things out and learning as I go. Best yet, the blog conference I’m attending next month is having a session on podcasting. I hope it brings back my spunk and keeps at this.
Remember how last week I wrote that my YouTube channel would be finished by now? That was a lie. Sorry. It’s partly up, so you can check it out, but I’m not up to date. I wish I could say that’ll happen soon but it’s not going to.

2:15 Introducing Fluff Bum Love

You can find her on Instagram or shop her store on Etsy.
3:44 Kylies Introduction to Cloth Diapering
Kylie works one day a week as a surgical nurse. With her oldest, she started cloth diapering, but there aren’t a lot of options available in her small town.
5:21 Once a Week Wash Routine
Gabrielle’s daily wash routine in a small machine.
She’s a cloth diaper hoarder and creator, so she has enough diapers to make it last for 7 days. Also, a large load capacity that can hold a full stash of diapers.
Uses Tide Detergent. Did use homemade detergent for 9 months, but then moved onto other adventures.
Need: A Pail BIG enough to fit all the diapers.
13 Gallon Garbage pail lined with a LARGE wet bag.
A week of wet soiled diapers becomes very heavy. Kylie hangs her diapers to dry in the bathroom, and when dry stacks them into the pail. Cut’s down on smell, weight, size, and hopefully the washing.
In the machine, starting with a cold water wash and cold water rinse with a normal amount of detergent. The second cycle is a long warm water wash and rinse.
10:18 What’s Your Stash?
Pockets & everything (microfibre, hemp, FST, custom inserts, interlock wool).
Making your own inserts they don’t need to be pretty but can totally meet your needs.
11:30 What is FluffBumLove?
Started to get contacted by other moms about selling her products. She was sewing for her own needs because there weren’t many options in her local community.
Mostly right now, focused on a Harlem pant with a 4-way stretch that allows for a pant to go over the cloth diaper. Very soft.
Bailey has a problem that fit over diapers with her daughter and weird butt bulge.
Kylie creates everything in the toy room of her house, and the kids just play. It might take her a little longer.
14:00 What Distinguishes FluffBumLove over a Competitor
Our fabric with a 4-way stretch and cuffed ankles that lets them grow with your baby and last well over a year.
14:41 Biggest Challenge with FluffBumLove
Scheduling with kids. She makes everything to order within 2-3 days. Things can be custom made with specific tailoring.
15:28 Why Did You Start Cloth Diapering to Begin with
Didn’t want to pay Huggies a small fortune, and then babies had sensitive skin and then has snow balled into many different reasons.
Many people are scared of it, but there are so many neat products today.
16:13 Biggest Challenge for the Cloth Diapering Community.
People are grossed out by it, but the thing that’s funny is that you’re dealing with blow ups and you’ll deal with bodily fluids that aren’t yours.
Cloth Diapering Laundry is enjoyable.
19:20 – Find her in a few weeks to talk the rest of this interview on Wool.
