All right, welcome back to cloth diaper podcast. My name is Bailey. I am the host of the cloth diaper Podcast. I’m a mom of two. And I just talk about cloth diapering a lot. I talk about it with everybody, anyone all the time, everywhere. And so when it comes to knowing a thing or two about cloth diapers, I know just enough to sound really smart, but I’m always learning every single day. This episode is show 85 hour cloth diaper podcast, and it’s just a little bit of a precursor coming into Black Friday.

Black Friday is coming. And for many cloth diaper brands and retailers it’s already started. Can you believe it this year, unlike any year before. We have seen cloth diaper brands retailers, big box stores, small box stores everybody in between drop their promotions earlier than later.

We saw some brands like Nerdy Mama’s host pre Black Friday sales in October. And they straight up said we’re not doing Black Friday, but you can have a sale today. There are no rules about sales. So really, we can just kind of do whatever you want to do. If you want Black Friday to start in October.

You can have Black Friday start in October. But just because some brands started Black Friday sales early little helper I see you black life, I see you petite crown, I see you Green Mountain diapers. I see you doesn’t mean everybody if there are people out there who are starting their Black Friday sales this week, there are people out there who won’t be releasing their sales until the very last moment.

Some people do exclusive 24 hour only sales on Black Friday, some people do 48 hour sales, there really is so many options and diversity, it can be a little bit overwhelming. I’m sure that as a parent thinking about how are you going to navigate this world of sales?

Well, the thing is, you don’t have to buy diapers if you don’t need diapers, and we really would probably encourage you to only buy what you need. Something we don’t talk about enough in the cloth diaper community is conscious consumerism and making sure that we only spend what we need to spend so that we can be sustainable globally, and local community. But alas, that was a little bit of a detour from this when it comes to this year’s Black Friday sales.

Honestly, I can’t spill the secrets on what I know. But what I do know is that you can expect to see some of your favorite brands go 10 to 40% off, and now it’s vague. But generally, if I was a cloth diaper consumer, and I was curious about what a brand might be doing, I would go check out and see what they did before.

This will help you understand if they are a no sale brand. Or if they’re a brand that does deep discounts, or if they’re a brand who does No discounts. A little research will get you a long way you can snoop into their social media profiles. You can find old website posts from myself or all about cloth diapers. And you can kind of gauge Okay, what does this brand do? And what do they normally do? I mean, that’s what we just said.

For example, we used to know that GroVia only had two or three sales a year in which they would offer 20% off their elusive product lineup. I’ve seen them offer more sales in the more recent years. But in the past, everybody in the community knew grovia only went on sale on Black Friday and earthday retailers were pretty adamant that grovia had some of the strictest policies for their retailers. And so you kind of could expect that come Black Friday, the grovia sales are going to be the best that you’ve ever seen. Now that doesn’t work for all brands.

Some brands will do things differently. But on generally on Black Friday, we should see some sort of sale. And that sale is going to be in line with the brand’s original ethos. Some brands like Geffen baby, we rarely see discount and more than 10%. So don’t expect Black Friday to be some sort of miracle where they are now 40% off. Every business has a different business model that has a different profit margin and the different structure.

Not all brands can offer 40% off. Some brands can only offer 10% off. Sometimes at the end of the day, we got to keep the lights on wherever we are. So my biggest tip there is to do some research. What do you need this Black Friday and what does that brand typically do? That’s generally what you can expect.

Of course, we are going to see some game changers. We’re seeing some brands who have launched their Black Friday sales already who normally host them later on. I’ve also heard of some brands who might not be releasing a Black Friday sale because they don’t have the product because they don’t have the support so the structure in place to make it happen.

So some brands might not be having a Black Friday sale and that is a okay as well. We’re not all tied to having to do Black Friday and I think a lot of us in the community Do we do prefer birthday sales over Black Friday, there’s definitely going to be a little bit of a shipping chaos. Black Friday, we think we experienced that across all jerseys. But yeah. My other big tip is if you’re not already on newsletters, you need to be on a newsletter.

So if you know a product that you need to say you want to buy some Kinder cloth or some Charlie banana, make sure that you go to their websites and subscribe to their newsletters. Now, newsletters are easily the best way to say subscribe to any brand sales and updates, share, you can follow them on social media, but we know how that algorithm is. It’s not good. And you’ll also have any, anything I find brands, they can either email me or fill out my form to get on the list or I just kind of wait until I see something. I am subscribed to way too many newsletters as well. So when that happens, they will be added to my list as soon as I find out. I’ll try to keep this list up to date as much as I can. But sometimes I’m slow, so don’t feel free.

Don’t be scared to take me. I think that’s about all I had to say for this year’s Black Friday sale. I wrote a little bit of a post over on my personal blog simply mom bailey.com But I just wanted to touch in with you guys let you know what’s happening. Make sure you know to stay subscribe to newsletters, make sure to know that. You know you can kind of rely on what happened in years past. But sometimes brands will throw a game changer at you. And I cannot wait for Black Friday to be over because then I can just relax. I don’t know I find Black Friday super stressful. Because you are. It’s like earthday for a content creator, you’re kind of juggling, you have this expectation and it’s a big opportunity for me to make money.

And I hate making money. Because I just I have some personal issues I need to work through with this whole money concept. But Black Friday is a big day for content creators. And I think I’m going to end this little ramble was saying if you follow somebody who does an amazing job of supporting you use their affiliate links this Black Friday. I don’t care. They don’t have to be mine. Just use somebody use the affiliate links of people who are supporting you use them because those creators deserved to get the recognition that they are creating valuable and content and I want you to use them. Use all of your small brand links, just use them. Anyways, next week we’re going to be talking to Katie hair about the cloth option.
